Day 2555 - A new beginning (June 1st 2011) 06/03/2011

Obviously day 2555 seems like a bit of an odd time to start a blog about my experiences in Japan, especially when those who know me know full well that my memory only stretches back to the last time I watched a Japanese chat show on the box. Presumably any intelligent thought or memory before then has been wiped. Anyone who has seen Japanese chat shows, particularly the ones featuring SMAP, will understand why. Now I need to be careful now as I am sure, having lived in Japan for 7 years, some references I make will be meaningless to anyone from back home. For anyone not familiar with SMAP, theyre a pop group owned by a record label called Journeys and they have for the last 2 or 3 centuries or however long, had a stranglehold on any kind of creative media in Japan, TV, radio, music to name but a few, and as I speak of strangling I am reminded of SMAPs 2 hour specials or the celebratory New Year shows which they host and the activity I would like to be performing on the member of SMAP whose chin is so pointy it could no doubt be used as a stake to kill vampires. That said SMAP do have their moments. One of the best interviews I have seen to date has been Shingo of SMAPs animal impressions for  Tom Cruise and Steven Speilberg. After realising that he couldnt speak English quite as well as he thought and they couldnt speak Japanese he got off his chair roared like a lion and woddled around in front of them like a duck and they lapped it up, as did I!!
Anyway seeing as this is like a diary I should include some thoughts on today. It was a dull day. I stayed in and watched 2 dull day. I stayed in and watched 2 episodes of Supernatural. Not that theres anything wrong with that. If I were a firefly and I only had 7 days to live I think Id use them to watch all six seasons of Supernatural and I guess mate like crazy on the seventh day. Id imagine most of the other male fireflies would be quite tired by the seventh day anyway so it would work out nicely for me. I could probably get first dibbs on the hotties.
The picture below is a pic I took of the bridge near my house during a typhoon that hit Japan last weekend. It really pissed it down actually. The river in the photo is almost empty usually. I never could understand why there was so much space for it until then. Typhoons are usually quite good fun but what with the problems in Fukushima and the fact that TEPCO, the Tokyo Electricity company responsible for the nucleur power plant up north, werent prepared for heavy rain and it could cause more radiation leakage and troubles for the people up their without homes right now, it wasnt quite as fun as it should have been.
